September 2023 - For the Victoria's Secret World Tour 2023, which will celebrate its premiere on September 26, the St.Gallen embroidery manufacturers Forster Rohner and Jakob Schlaepfer had the great opportunity to create numerous embroideries in a unique partnership with Victoria's Secret. The creations are worn by top models such as Candice Swanepoel and Winnie Harlow.
With the Victoria’s Secret World Tour 2023, the renowned lingerie brand is breaking new ground, embracing fresh formats for a global fashion event that celebrates the beauty and empowerment of today’s women. For the first time, Victoria’s Secret offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process, sharing personal stories and collaborating with innovative artists from around the world.
"Supporting an event of this magnitude is incomparable"
Victoria’s Secret has been an important client of Forster Rohner Lingerie for many years. "However, being able to support such a highly anticipated global fashion event as a family-run business from St. Gallen is truly incomparable," says Juliette Schwander, Key Account Manager for Victoria’s Secret at Forster Rohner. Alongside Victoria’s Secret’s design team, Forster Rohner developed not only lingerie embroidery designs for the World Tour collection but also numerous pieces for the stars’ evening attire. "For example, at the Victoria’s Secret Pink Carpet event in New York City, top model Candice Swanepoel wore a black sleeveless mini dress with a corset and gold embroidery appliqués by Forster Rohner," shares Elisheva Senn, Head of Forster Rohner Lingerie.
Young designer Melissa Valdes in St. Gallen
The redesign of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show also included the integration of four emerging designers from Bogotá, Lagos, London and Tokyo, who designed, produced and showcased their own collections. Among them was fashion designer Melissa Valdes from Bogotá. In spring 2023, she visited Forster Rohner and Jakob Schlaepfer in St. Gallen on her mission for Victoria’s Secret. "During her visit, she learned about the various possibilities of embroidery techniques, drew inspiration from Jakob Schlaepfer’s archives and was able to bring her ideas to life in our innovation center," explains Fabio Di Silvio, CEO of Jakob Schlaepfer. One of the key outcomes of the collaboration between Jakob Schlaepfer and Melissa Valdes was top model Winnie Harlow’s Pink Carpet outfit, featuring a sequined guipure lace that is a reinterpretation from Jakob Schlaepfer’s archives.
